Ulster v Leinster Inter Pro Major Success despite result

Ivan Cooke17 May 2012 - 15:47

Ulster Juniors 15 - Leinster Juniors 19

Super day at the club despite Ulster not winning. It must have been a great moment for local boy Steven McReynolds leading out the Ulster team. A great crowd and good atmosphere was very much appreciated by players management and officers of both Ulster and Leinster. Everyone at the post match dinner enjoyed it and was full of praise for the service and food and it all made a great impression on our visitors.

The club would like to thank everyone who attended the event and hope you had and great experience during your visit. We hope to see you again soon.

A special thanks has to go out to a few individuals though. Stephen Henry for the post match dinner, delivered with professionalism and to a high standard which always impresses. To Ricky and Colin Adair for their work with the minis and the job they did in show casing them on the day. To the guys who looked after the BBQ. To Ivan Cooke for creating the match posters/flyers and his efforts to advertising the match. To our sponsors of the event.

Leinster Match Report

Leinster Juniors finished their interpro' campaign on a high when they defeated Ulster 19-15 in front of a sizeable support on Saturday afternoon at Larne RFC...

Portarlington’s Ross Doyle scored an early try with Paddy Behan adding a penalty mid way throw through the 1st half. However just on the stroke of half time Ulster scored a try which went unconverted leaving the half time score 8-5.
Some early pressure early in the 2nd half yielded a 2nd try for the impressive Doyle. Paddy Behan tagged on another penalty with Leinster now in the driving seat a third penalty from Ivan Poole gave Leinster a commanding 19 5 lead heading into the final quarter.

With the vocal home support, Ulster found their grove and ally that with indiscipline from the visitors seeing Leinster closing out the game with 13 players and two late Ulster tries made for an interesting last 5 mins. With Leinster showing great resolve and a tremendous work effort the boys in Blue hung on for a well-deserved victory.

Connacht scored a late intercept try against Munster in Castleisland for a famous win and a second Interpro in two years for the men from the west.
