Despite the conditions, Larne started the half stronger than Malone with first up hits from M. McKinley and R. Williamson.
A surging kick down into the Malone 22 saw Larne try their mauling technique to work and paid off when W. Rea received the ball and powered over the line, giving Larne the opening 5 points. Conversion missed, but a penalty by Larne out-half G. Knox kept the points ticking.
However Malone bounced back quickly, but suffered an injury when their winger collided with a clash of heads and received a heavy blow that caused him to go off.
Both sides went down to 14 after Larne flanker M. McKinley was sin binned.
Soon after the delay, Malone reacted quicker and were rewarded through 2 tries and a penalty.
A tight affair at half time 8-13 to the visitors.
The second half was one to forget for Larne as their hard work in the first half seemed a distant as Malone ran riot.
A further 38 unanswered points by Malone secured the top of the table clash. Although some try saving tackles from R. Bergin and A. Murray were not enough, Larne still showed signs that they were still alive, but couldn't muster any points onto the board.
Final Score Larne 8 - 51 Malone.
