Strong Ballymoney side beat Larne 3rds

Blustery conditions meant a difficult day for rugby and using this advantage would get any team on the front foot.

Ballymoney kicked the game off with the wind at their backs and pinned the visitors down in the own 22 for the duration of the first half.

Using their strong pack, the B’Money rolling maul worked tremendously well and opened the score sheet with a brace of tries.

Despite desperate defence from the Larne side, Ballymoney punished them further with another try.

Larne’s hope and inspiration of a comeback was led by Captain A. Darragh with a quickly tapped penalty, as he snaked through the defence and passed out wide to J. Abernethy to score under the posts.

Larne conceded another try before the half-time whistle blew and at 29-3 down, Larne had a mountain to climb.

A majority of possession favoured the Larne side as they used the kicking for territory game, but couldn’t escape the clutches of the dominant B’Money forwards. That was until full back A. Murray used his incredible sidestepping capability to create space for himself to run 80 metres of the field and touchdown under the posts.

A moment of Déjà vu happened 10 minutes later when again, Murray gathered loose ball and punished the Ballymoney defence again. G. Knox retaining a stallworthy 100% kicking record for the day.

Credit was given to Larne in the second half for flipping the switch and only to leak 2 tries near the end of the game.
