Larne 3rd XV welcomed Randalstown on Saturday with a new captain in B. Meikle and got their league campaign off to a great start with a well deserved win 44-26. Larne never had it all their own way however, starting the game slow and going behind early, the first half was one Larne will want to forget, with some soft tackling and sloppy penalties costing them, however they did manage to keep in touch with some strong running from the forwards such as M Gilbert and S. Johnston and also well worked tries, with G. Rennox scoring two, R. Jones and J. O'toole scoring and J. O'toole converting just one. With the second half kicking off and the score at 22-26 Larne had some work to do, staring the second half at Full-back A. Darragh cut a outstanding line off J. O'toole to score below the posts, from this the forward pack started to dominate both the scrum and line out giving the backs more clean ball leading to J. O'toole making up for his missed kicks with another try and also converting it, then hitting a long range penalty to put larne in control, with just minutes left, G. Rennox scored his third of the game with an outstanding run from inside his own 22m line to leave the final score 44-26. MOTM – G. Rennox
