A sunny afternoon in the Glynn welcomed visitors Armagh 2nds to play the first game of the season for Larne 1sts.

An early penalty Philip Andrews gave the hosts the lead before brother Stuart Andrews scored in the left corner giving Larne the 10-0 lead. A yellow card to Armagh gave space for Ryan Garrett to zip down the wing for a second score after a turnover assist single-handedly from Stuart Johnston. Andrews converting both scores.

A second yellow card was given to Armagh but the visitors were last on the board before halftime with a well worked score off the scrum. 17 – 5 to Larne at Half time.

A strongly contested second half started well for Larne as Eddie Hunter scored his first of the season after a sublime pass from Luke Burford, set up the new club captain.

Armagh looked to be in for a certain score through the winger, but tore his hamstring as he knocked the ball on at the try line, stopped the score from being recorded. The injured winger having to be carried off, stopped the game for a period of time. A few phases later Armagh got their reward though their 13 with a super solo score.

The temperament of the game escalated and after a few feisty affairs, Jonny Cole was sent to the bin after a high tackle.

A missed penalty from Larne went from bad to worse as Armagh crashed through some broken tackles for their next score. Their outhalf missing the conversion leaving the scoreline at 22-15 with the final 10 minutes of the game to play.

Larne saw the game out with a penalty and came out winners 25-15.

A very entertaining game and plenty to take out of this first game of the season.
