Larne travelled to Lisburn on Saturday without the influential Rhys Thomas to play a very much in form Lisburn in difficult conditions.

The Glynn men started brightly playing very smart rugby , mixing the game up & into the wind kicking with purpose through Garrett & Andrews. They deservedly took a 10 point lead with an Andrews penalty followed by sustained pressure allowing the mercurial Garrett to pop a perfect inside pass to his brother in law Jonny Cole to dive over with Andrews converting.

Lisburn did make a couple of line breaks but poor final passes cost them potential scores before they reduced the deficit with a straight forward penalty. In difficult conditions the play continued to be of a high standard with the scrum holding up well against a much vaunted home pack though the line outs will need attention in coming weeks.

Turning around with a reasonable breeze larne set about their opponents & Jonny hall made a searing break from 40 metres stepping past a couple of defenders to score a sublime try. This was followed by an almost identical try to the first as Garrett again cleverly switched inside to the ever alert McAlister to dive over...Andrews adding the extras.

The whole pack were playing brilliantly with human torpedo Jameson doing his usual wipe out job on any forward daring come round the side whilst Cole was immense & Hunter was his usual consistent self.

Ian Mcilheron was proving a real handful for the Lisburn midfield & made hard yards on every occasion. It was no surprise when that man Jordy burns scored the bonus point try after a trademark scintillating break leaving defenders in his wake for another brilliant converted score making it 29-3. A few more scores went a begging & whilst Lisburn battered away they were totally frustrated by the ring of steel Larne defence.

So another victory in what is building to a momentous season for coach Milligan & his men. Other teams so dismissive of Larne as an easy 10 points might now start thinking otherwise . The entertainment value this young side gave last & this season to date is remarkable & with the average age of just 23 the future is certainly bright.
