Upcoming fundraiser for the entire Youth Section (Under 12s, Under14s & Under 16s) on Friday 26th February 2016.

This event is a big push to raise funds for the entire youth section. Not only for the tour but also for a few other things we have planned for the rest of the season including:

• An end of season Awards dinner/function (for all the players and parents)
• A fun day/team building event for all players (To Be Decided exactly what - karting? Airsoft? something else?)
• A tournament and BBQ in April/May
• And then there is next season and new kit etc…….

So this fundraising effort is for ALL players to benefit from. And we need every single players parents help with this. Here is how:

• Every Players parent will get 4 tickets. Your challenge is to sell 2 of those (the other 2 are for you and are free - no point charging parents to attend - what we are trying to do here is put a really good event on that others outside the rugby circle will go to and enjoy!). If you can sell more than 2 - even better!!
• Secondly, you come along with those 2 friends (or more!-I am quite certain that many of you can shift more than just 2 tickets).

Ive already started distributing the tickets to parents and coaches and will continue that this week- however you dont need these to start selling the event to friends, work colleagues etc.

Remember - this will be a really good fund raiser if everyone pulls together :-)

ADDITIONAL CHALLENGES/HELP NEEDED

RAFFLE PRIZES: We want to arrange a raffle for the evening with really good prizes. I intend to ask Hastings for a prize, and hopefully Billy Andies as well. But if anyone else can get some raffle prizes please help us out here. Let Carol Ann Hemy know if you get prizes - (email: carolannhemy@hotmail.com Tel: 07955798808) CA has kindly offered to help and I have asked her to coordinate this aspect of the event.

STAGING: Obviously I am trying to keep the costs as low as possible so that we maximise the income. All the musicians are performing for free;the venue is free; Ive scrounged most of the production kit needed (PA; Lights etc) - but staging is a bit trickier cause of the logistics.
Does anyone know whether any of the schools? Larne Drama Circle? etc has any staging that we could borrow? If you can help please let me know.

Q&As

Q: What if I can’t go to the event?
A: Only acceptable excuses are severe injury (Lol) - seriously tho, I would hope that all parents will make every effort to attend. However undoubtedly some won’t be able to. However - you still have to sell your tickets ;-)

Q: What sort of music is it?
A:
A very varied mix! This isn’t just all Janet. There are several other singers and artists across a wide range of styles and genres - bluegrass to pop, folk to rock, country to contemporary. There will be lots of old favourite (ie songs that everyone knows), as well as a few that perhaps most won’t. The only constant is that everything is unplugged (ie its all acoustic instruments - guitars, piano, percussion, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, dobro, shakers, harmonicas………but not all at once - lol. Think Transatlantic sessions - very relaxed and chilled. The event will be seated - round table style.

Q: It just isn’t my thing - can I just give the money?
A:
Please dont! What we are trying to do here is tap in to a much wider bunch of people rather than just ask parents to donate money - it defeats the purpose.

Q: What do i do with the money from the tickets I’ve sold?
A:
Bring it on the evening. Someone will be designated on the evening to collect/deal with this.

Q: Can people buy tickets anywhere else?
A:
Yes. Tickets are available at the Hotel, Ballygally shop; The Meeting House, Billy Andies, Todds Estate Agency, and the rugby club.

Q: Do you need a ticket to get in - ie if someone comes on the evening?
A: No (unless all 300 tickets are sold in which case we may have issues with H&S). “walk ups” are fine - but that will cost more (10 rather than 7.50). So its best that anyone coming has a ticket. if anyone cannot get a ticket for whatever reason contact me.

Q: Can I give my free ticket to someone else.
A: No! The free tickets are only for both parents of each player or parent and partner. As I said, the reason Ive decided to make these free is because I see little point in taking money from parents of players when what we are trying to do is raise money to offset the cost of events and activities for the boys. Please respect this - the only people who get in free are players parents and any players that may be involved in helping.

Finally folks - we really need your help with this. And I promise - it will be a great evening :-)
